Monday, January 16, 2012 is Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Inspired by Dr. King, bcWORKSHOP has created Public Info Act(s). A PIA is designed to inform the public about the city’s past in order to generate ideas to enhance its future.

These Act(s) intend to empower people, foster neighborliness and inspire civic engagement. We believe people determine the shape of the places they inhabit and those places should be made for them, by them, with civility and respect for the public good.

The buildingcommunityWORKSHOP is a Dallas-based nonprofit seeking to improve the livability and viability of communities through the practice of thoughtful design and making. We enrich the lives of citizens by bringing design thinking to areas of our city where resources are most scarce. To do so, the bcWORKSHOP recognizes that it must first understand the social, economic, and environmental issues facing a community before beginning work.
